From pharmacist Arlindo Rezende to national recognition
Pharmacist Arlindo Rezende founded the establishment in 1901, initially on the corner of Silva Bueno and Lord Cockrane streets. However, shortly thereafter, the pharmacy moved to its current location at 1488 on the same street, where it has stood for over 115 years.
Its fame quickly spread beyond the city limits. In the 1920s and 1930s, for example, it was common for customers to come from Minas Gerais and Paraná to purchase exclusive capsules for the treatment of kidney stones.
Another interesting fact is that this historic pharmacy in São Paulo once served as a meeting place for prominent figures. In the 1940s and 1950s, writer Jorge Amado frequented the place, reinforcing the social role the space played in the neighborhood.
A century-old tradition and innovation in modern compounding
With 125 years of history, the pharmacy continues to serve residents of Ipiranga and the surrounding area. Although it has changed ownership four times over the years, the Moraes Gomes Torres family has been running the business since 2009 with the same quality as when it first opened.
A recent change was the adoption of online sales and customer service via WhatsApp (11 94120-9776). Despite all the modernizations, the owners have preserved the spelling “Pharmacia” with a “Ph” to this day, serving as a symbol of the location’s legacy.
