The bill to change the names of the Paulista and Consolação subway stations in São Paulo has just been approved by the city council. At a meeting in the early hours of Monday morning, the deputies approved the content of Bill No. 0104/2024 by 94 votes to zero. The document now goes to Governor Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans) for sanction.
The text by state deputy Regina Falange (PFR) aims to change the names of the Paulista and Consolação stations. The confusion arises because the first is located on Rua da Consolação, while the other is on Avenida Paulista. In other words, the pairs don’t complement each other.
In defense of the project, the parliamentarian said that the mismatch between names and streets: “may seem like a joke to São Paulo residents, but it confuses tourists”.
Of course, this is our little April Fool’s lie, but it could just as well be true. If you know someone who would love the change, share the content.
