São Paulo travelers will soon have another terminal option when it comes to traveling. This is because Infraero has confirmed the construction of the brand new Norte Paulista International Airport, which will be located in Olímpia, 430 km from São Paulo. It is expected to handle up to 1 million passengers a month, both domestic and from other South American countries.
The federal government approved the project in December 2023, and now it will finally come to fruition. The airport complex will cover more than 200,000 m² and will be just 4 kilometers from the SP-425, also known as the Assis Chateaubriand Highway.
In other words, the interior of São Paulo will soon be even more connected to the world. What’s more, the famous water parks of Olímpia will be even closer to the people of São Paulo, just an hour’s flight away!
When will Norte Paulista International Airport be ready?
So far, the new international airport in Olímpia is expected to open in 2026. In other words, it will be a maximum of two years before travelers can enjoy the new terminal.
The investment in the work will be in the millions. It is estimated that the work will cost around R$104 million, which will come entirely from the Federal Government. It will be the largest federal investment ever made in the north of the state of São Paulo.
Airport will further increase Olímpia’s tourist potential
Olímpia is currently one of the biggest tourist destinations in the state. In 2023, for example, the city received 4.8 million visitors, a figure that is increasing every year.
