The city council has ordered the creation of two new parks in SP. They have yet to be named, as this controversial agenda will be debated in August, but they will be based in two regions: Bixiga, in the central zone, and another in the area of Clube Banespa, in the South Zone.
However, the areas still need to be expropriated and the owners compensated.
Bixiga Park
The creation of this park puts an end to the dispute between playwright Zé Celso and television presenter and businessman Silvio Santos. They met for years to define the future of the land, but never reached a consensus.
The Silvio Santos Group wanted to build three buildings in the area, but Zé Celso died arguing that this endeavor would harm the cultural activities of the city Teatro Oficina Uzyna Uzona and de-characterize the project by architect Lina Bo Bardi.
It is now known that the land will be transformed into a beautiful park, but the name is still controversial among the councillors: some want to pay homage to the playwright and others to the businessman. The decision has been scheduled for August.
Banespa Club
Yet another conflict over the creation of a park, this time between local residents and the process between Santander bank and the association that manages Clube Banespa.
This was because Santander had filed a lawsuit to suspend the lending contract, like a free loan, of Clube Banespa. Since the institution took over the positions after privatization. So, if Santander were to win in court, the land would be eligible to be sold on the real estate market. But with the creation of the park, this sale cannot happen.
Currently, the land in Santo Amaro has more than 60,000 square meters and is valued at R$1 billion. Now we just have to wait and see what the new parks in São Paulo will be called, which should be decided soon.
