“Forever young, I want to be forever young!”, if you’ve accessed your TikTok in the last few days, you’ve surely come across the return of this rock anthem to public taste. But it’s not just this song that has come back into the spotlight recently. The prestigious musical of the same name will soon be playing again and you can’t miss it!
Directed by Jarbas Homem de Mello, husband of the iconic Cláudia Raia, ‘Forever Young’ begins its new season at the Fernando Torres Theater. The show is a great success and has been nominated for the main musical theater awards: Bibi Ferreira and Reverência. In addition, since 2016, it has thrilled 230,000 people in more than 600 performances. A musical master returns to the stage!
What to expect from ‘Forever Young’?
The musical comedy is set in a retreat for artists, where six elderly people live out their days under the care of a nurse. But when she’s not there, everything turns to rock! Thus, the play shows how youth is a state of mind and not an age.
Despite the audience’s laughter and the comedic content, the musical also conveys a very important criticism about citizenship in old age. Topics such as social exclusion and old age prejudices are debated in the midst of one joke or another.
In addition, the musical repertoire of the work recalls rock hits from the 50s to the 90s, such as: Smells Like a Teen Spirit, I Will Survive, Rehab, Sweet Dreams, California Dreamin, Imagine and, of course, the emblematic Forever Young. The national classics are not left out: Raul Seixas, Tim Maia and Chico Buarque are also part of the composition.

The play will run from September 6 to November 11 at the Fernando Torres Theater. The sessions take place on Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and on Sundays at 7pm.
