USP Zoology Museum
Today, USP’s Zoology Museum holds one of the largest zoological collections in Latin America and plays a crucial role in developing knowledge about Brazilian and global biodiversity. With more than 12 million preserved specimens, it holds unique testimonies about species and ecosystems, some of which are now extinct.
One of the museum’s greatest attractions is the skeleton of Tapuiasaur macedoi, a giant herbivorous dinosaur almost 12 meters long that lived over 120 million years ago. With a very long neck and bulky body, this dinosaur was found in rare conditions of preservation, with a complete and articulated skull.
