What to expect from ‘Martinho, Coração de Rei – The Musical’?
The show is directed by Miguel Falabella and dramaturged by Helena Theodoro, author of the author’s biography and a researcher on the African continent. In this way, the show will reveal the profound influence of Afro-Brazilian manifestations, such as the Folia de Reis, on Martinho’s work.
The plot transports the audience into the universe of the master samba dancer, revealing a man who had a passion not only for samba, but also for his family and Brazilian culture as a whole.
In total, the musical will feature 20 actors-singers-dancers, as well as 8 musicians. There will also be a special appearance by Mart’nália, the artist’s daughter, and his grandchildren Dandara and Guido Ventapane.
Social contribution is also a key point of the musical
In addition to entertainment, ‘Martinho, Coração de Rei – O Musical’ also has a positive impact on São Paulo society. Firstly, the musical directly and indirectly creates more than 300 jobs, from its conception to the end of the season in November.
In addition, the play’s 250 costumes are designed by the stylist Cláudio Tovar, and made by the Tereza business. In partnership with the Humanitas360 Institute, the sewing and embroidery was done by nine women released from the prison system, who take part in a workshop at the Oswaldo Andrade Ultural Workshop.
