Occupying a mansion from 1946, the Marieta Cultural Center has established itself as a bastion of cultural resistance in Bixiga. The space, which has hosted major figures in the Brazilian publishing industry, now functions as a laboratory for audiovisual and independent literary production.
Located at 274 Rocha Street, the project attracts an audience from all corners of the city. For ten years now, it has been a haven for artists, writers, and culture enthusiasts seeking a collaborative environment outside the commercial hub.

The literary legacy of the Marieta Cultural Center
The building’s walls carry decades of intellectual history, having initially housed the publishing house that inspired the Martins Fontes Bookstore. Today, Espaço Marieta Rocha reinterprets this legacy by promoting a space focused on the exchange of knowledge.
The project has participants from various parts of São Paulo, ensuring a multicultural atmosphere. In other words, Marieta is the ideal meeting place for the creative scene, giving voice to different artistic expressions.

Audiovisual training and national reach
The curatorial program brings together everything from writing clubs to monthly screenwriters’ meetings, offering support for the development of new talent. Film also features prominently in the programming, with screenings of independent short films that rarely find a place in commercial theaters.
But the Marieta Cultural Center isn’t limited to São Paulo, right? The development groups accept applicants from any region of Brazil, who can participate remotely!
