Can you imagine an insect garden in the heart of Vila Mariana? It exists! Planeta Inseto is the only museum dedicated to these little creatures in Brazil, offering a fun and educational trip to the heart of São Paulo. Located at the Biological Institute of São Paulo, it attracts families and the curious with its interactive and unusual attractions, such as the famous cockroach race.
The museum is housed in a historic mansion from the 1940s, which gives the visit a special charm. In addition, the environment has accessibility features, making the tour perfect for all ages.

Insect Planet guarantees fun for children and adults alike
The Biological Institute’s permanent exhibition aims to make the public aware of the fundamental role of insects in nature. A very important topic, since many of us feel afraid or even disgusted by these little beings. Which is a shame, because they are essential for environmental sustainability and even for food production. After all, who actually pollinates the trees that produce the fruit we eat?
With real insects and technological resources, the museum offers a playful and interactive experience. Visitors can immerse themselves in the universe of these animals, which are essential to our lives. They can watch caterpillars weaving silk, follow bees in hives with cameras or learn how real anthills work.

Cheer on your favorite cockroach
The most curious attraction at Planeta Inseto is the cockroach race, a fun duel in which visitors cheer on their unusual competitors. But there is much more to explore, such as the Cabinet of Curiosities, which pays homage to entomologist Arthur Neiva and offers scientific information in a playful way.
The bravest can hold insects in their hands, such as the woodworm or the Madagascar cock roach, one of the largest species of cockroach in the world! All this in an environment designed to welcome families, schools and nature lovers, where science and fun go hand in hand.
Planeta Inseto is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 9am to 4pm, at Avenida Doutor Dante Pazzanese, 64 (Vila Mariana). The tour is free and there is on-site parking. Those who choose public transport can get off at Ana Rosa Station, which serves lines 1-Azul or 2-Verde and is one kilometer from the museum.
