A municipality in the interior of São Paulo with less than five thousand inhabitants is one of the best cities to live in Brazil. We’re talking about Gavião Peixoto, a town 300 km from the capital that stood out in the first study of the Social Progress Index (IPS) Brazil, which measured the well-being of the population of the country’s 5565 municipalities.
Despite its small size, the city with the best quality of life in Brazil is full of attractions that make it worth a visit. First of all, its nature walks, as the region has beautiful Atlantic Forest landscapes, several trails and waterfalls. The city is also home to the Embraer factory, one of the largest aircraft manufacturers in the world. Which is open to visitors, by the way!
In case you’re in the mood to move there (or maybe just stop by), here’s some information about one of the best cities to live in Brazil.

Gavião Peixoto is one of the best cities to live in Brazil
The city with the best quality of life in Brazil has its origins in the early 1900s. At that time, the SP government created a policy of occupying the interior, welcoming immigrants who arrived to work in the coffee plantations.
Later, in 1907, a train station was built in the region. The arrival of the train brought even more inhabitants to the region, as well as boosting the economy by facilitating the transportation of local produce to the rest of the state.

Shortly afterwards, however, rail transport lost its status in Brazil and the authorities shut down the railroad that passed through Gavião Peixoto. Consequently, the region lost its economic status again.
However, in 2001, Embraer decided to build its newest aircraft factory in Gavião Peixoto, taking the city into a new economic phase. The project brought innovation and many jobs to the region. For example, of the city’s 4,700 inhabitants, 2,800 are employees of the factory. That’s more than half the population!
