On June 24, Venezuela was struck by two earthquakes that prompted the country to declare a state of emergency. The quakes, measuring 7.2 and 7.5 on the Richter scale, occurred less than a minute apart and were the strongest to hit the nation since 1900.
After a week of search efforts, the tragedy has claimed 2,295 lives and left more than 11,000 injured, with the United Nations (UN) estimating that more than 50,000 people remain missing under the rubble. In addition, thousands of families have lost their homes and are surviving in precarious conditions.
In the face of this tragedy, many Brazilians are asking themselves: how can we help the victims of the earthquakes in Venezuela? That is why we are providing a list of reputable organizations that are collecting donations to assist the Venezuelan people.
Earthquake in Venezuela: How Can We Help the Victims?
UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR)
UNHCR has been present in Venezuela since before the tragedy, assisting vulnerable citizens. Now, the agency is also actively involved in the emergency response to shelter and protect victims, distributing water, food, and supplies, building temporary shelters, and mobilizing volunteers.
People from anywhere in the world can support UNHCR’s mission with financial donations. Brazilians or foreign nationals residing in Brazil can contribute amounts starting at R$ 30 through the UNHCR Brazil website.

HUMUS Brazil
The Brazilian NGO specializes in natural disasters, with a track record of responding to tragedies such as those in Brumadinho and Mariana, as well as the earthquake in Haiti. Its teams are already on the ground in Venezuela, assisting in the search for the missing.

Casa Venezuela
A non-governmental organization in São Paulo, which works to promote the socioeconomic integration of migrants and refugees in Brazil, is collecting and organizing the shipment of supplies to Venezuela.
At this initial stage, the priority items are drinking water, medical supplies (cotton, adhesive bandages, gauze) , and equipment for rescue workers ( gloves, flashlights, batteries, PPE-style protective eyewear). Casa Venezuela has two collection points in São Paulo:
- Projeto Cerzindo: Rua Guaianazes, 1,112 – Campos Elíseos | Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Missão Paz: Rua do Glicério, 225 – Liberdade | Monday through Friday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The first truck carrying supplies headed to Guarulhos Airport on Thursday, the 2nd. Upon arrival in Venezuela, local NGOs will distribute the supplies to victims and rescue workers.

GRAD Brazil
Finally, the Animal Disaster Response Group (GRAD) is part of the emergency response to the earthquake in Venezuela alongside the task force sent by the Brazilian government. Both are working to rescue human and animal victims, relying on a multidisciplinary team specialized in the care of all species.
