This week, the hospital wards became sadder. This is due to the shutdown of the Doctors of Joy project, which for 33 years has brought a bit of fun and hope to those affected by health problems. The reason is the financial difficulties faced by the NGO, which is supported by tax incentives and donations, which fell by 70% from 2022 to this year.
As a result, the project has become unviable and the solution has been to put the project on hold for two weeks until the situation returns to normal. Unfortunately, it is estimated that 10,000 people will be affected. The situation is exacerbated when we remember that this Saturday, the 12th, is Children’s Day and many of them could be left unattended in hospitals.

To help the cause is very simple! You can donate any amount to the NGO via the organization’s official website. Click here.
The funds raised finance visits to children’s hospitals, the remuneration of artists, employees and the clown training program. In other words, it sustains the entire Doctors of Joy ecosystem.
About the project
For more than three decades, the project’s clowns have been brightening up hospital wards, especially for hospitalized children. Doctors of Joy was founded in 1991 and has since helped more than 2.5 million children. According to the NGO, 96.3% of children feel more at ease in the hospital environment when the clowns are present. This is why the group is so important for patients during their treatment.
In addition, an estimated 250 workers work directly or indirectly for the project. They also help more than 300 young people who are socially vulnerable. That’s why, more than ever, your contribution is essential so that the clowns can continue to brighten up the hospital wards of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Recife!
