A city is made up of the people who live in it, especially a city as lively as São Paulo. There’s no shortage of stories on every street. We take you on a tour of the house in the North Zone where one of the most emblematic names in world motor racing once lived: Ayrton Senna!
Douglas Nascimento, from the São Paulo Antiga website, introduces readers to the house that once served as the driver’s office.
Ayrton Senna and the city’s North Zone
What few people know is that Senna was born and raised in the north of São Paulo and during his career he kept the office in the photo above.
The São Paulo Antiga portal explains:
This sensational photograph (on the cover of this article), from the mid-1980s, shows a very young Ayrton Senna in front of a rather charming house. But where is it located?”
The property in question is the driver’s former commercial office and is located in Vila Maria Alta, at Rua Dr. Edson de Mello, 96. Have you ever considered renting one of Ayrton Senna’s houses? According to information from São Paulo Antiga, it is available for commercial rental. In other words, your dream could come true.
Homage to the national idol
On March 21, Ayrton Senna would have celebrated his 64th birthday. The Formula 1 driver unfortunately ended his career tragically and far too soon. But his story has been immortalized in the memory of all Brazilians.
In 2023, the city got a free, interactive circuit that recalls emblematic moments from the driver’s career. There, in addition to the activities, the public can also photograph the statue of Ayrton Senna, made by Lalalli Senna, a multi-artist and the driver’s niece.
Visits to the ‘Nosso Senna’ complex take place every day, from 8am to 6pm, and admission is free.
