If you’re a Beatles fan, you’ve heard of the Cavern Club. The iconic Liverpool pub was the stage for the band’s first performances and is now a must-see tourist attraction in the English city, welcoming Beatlemaniacs from all over the world. And the good news is that soon you won’t have to cross the Atlantic to visit it.
That’s because the legendary bar is about to open an address in São Paulo, bringing a bit of the history of John, Paul, George and Ringo to the capital. And the address has already been confirmed! Check out everything we know about the news below.
Beatles bar in SP? Find out all about the Cavern Club
In 2019, Liverpool’s Cavern Club announced that it would be opening a venue in São Paulo. According to Jon Keats, the club’s director, “Brazil is a stronghold for Beatles fans, and every year we welcome thousands of visitors from Brazil to Mathew Street [the street where the pub is located in England]”. So there was nothing more logical than paying homage to these fans with a little piece of the Cavern in the country’s largest city.
The Covid-19 pandemic soon followed, and fans received no new information about the venture. Until, this week, good news: the Cavern Club is here to stay! Construction is already in full swing, and soon São Paulo residents will be able to enjoy a nice pint in the official Beatles bar, which will bring all the atmosphere of English pubs to SP.
Where in São Paulo will the Beatles bar be located?
The iconic Liverpool bar will have a new address at Shopping Vila Olímpia, in São Paulo’s South Zone. The establishment will be a replica of the first unit, reproducing the stages where the Beatles began their career.
The opening date has not yet been announced, but who knows, maybe we’ll be able to visit the Beatles bar as early as 2025? We’re hoping! In the meantime, you can follow all the news on the official Instagram of the new pub in São Paulo, @thecavernclubsp.
