What to expect on Bolivian Independence Day in São Paulo?
Since 2006, the Bolivian community in São Paulo has gathered to celebrate its independence. But this year, the event returns with even more enthusiasm!
Traditionally, the celebration starts early with a procession at 8am in honor of the virgins of Copacabana and Urkupiña. This will be followed by a mass at 9.30 a.m. and a civic ceremony at 10.30 a.m. to officially celebrate the o Bolivian Independence Day.
The dance performances start at 11am, with each folkloric fraternity going around the square and showing off typical Bolivian choreography. These dances are accompanied by bands that bring the authentic sounds of the country directly to São Paulo.
And, of course, there’s no shortage of gastronomic festivals for visitors to enjoy a variety of Bolivian delicacies. For example, the peanut soup known as sopa de Manà and the iconic Salteña. To top it off, the prices are inviting, ranging from R$10 to R$35.
The dishes are prepared with authentic ingredients brought directly from Bolivia, guaranteeing a genuine and delicious culinary experience. Other highlights include Pollo Broaster, Lechon and the spicy Fricasé, as well as typical juices such as Mocochinchi and Linaza juice.
As well as music and dance, Bolivian artisans also exhibit and sell their work. In other words, it’s your chance to take home a piece of Bolivia.
