Did you know the best beer in the world is right here in São Paulo? In November, Ashby British Strong Ale, from Amparo, won an award at the prestigious European Beer Star (EBS) competition, held annually in Germany.
It won the gold medal in the English-Style Bitter category, where it competed against more than 3,200 labels from Italy, the USA and other countries. To choose it as the best, the jury evaluated the beer’s taste and aroma, as well as the flavor of the malt, hops and even color. Find out more about it below!
Get to know Ashby British Strong Ale
The Ashby Brewery was founded in 1993 by American Scott Ashby. Initially a small craft brewery, today it has a factory with around 50 employees in Amparo, around 130 km from the capital. Its labels are on sale in supermarkets throughout the Southeast and Midwest.
Ashby British Strong Ale is a pure malt beer with a “British personality”, promising to transport drinkers directly to England. Its taste is intense and pronouncedly bitter, with hints of almonds and yellow fruit.
Since its launch, the beer has won 19 awards in national and foreign competitions. Like at the World Beer Awards in 2023, where it also won the title of best beer in the world. In other words,
