Did you know that one of the world’s most sustainable beaches is just 2 hours from São Paulo? Praia do Tombo is located in Guarujá and stands out for combining nature and infrastructure, making it one of the favorite options on the south coast. Considered the cleanest beach in the city, it has been awarded the Blue Flag seal for 16 consecutive years, attesting to its commitment to sustainability.
As well as being one of the favorite beaches for surfers in Guarujá, Praia do Tombo also attracts families and couples looking for an organized beachfront. After all, it has a promenade, kiosks, toilets and accessibility options for people with disabilities. And, of course, very clean and transparent waters.

Tombo Beach combines leisure and sustainability
Praia do Tombo is just over 100 kilometers from São Paulo and is a must-see destination for a day trip or a long weekend. With just a few hours’ drive, you can escape the stone jungle and enjoy a paradisiacal coastline with all the comforts and infrastructure.
The beach is almost 900 meters long and got its name from its rough sea, with strong waves that make it perfect for surfing. For bathers, however, this means paying extra attention when entering the sea, especially with children and the elderly.
Despite the rough seas, Praia do Tombo is a must-see on the São Paulo coast. The highlight is its recognition as the cleanest beach in Guarujá, guaranteeing safe diving at a time when many beaches suffer from pollution.

Guarujá’s cleanest beach is internationally recognized
As well as being one of the most sustainable beaches in São Paulo, Praia do Tombo has also received international recognition. For the 16th consecutive year, the beach was featured in the Blue Flag Program, which honors beaches around the world for their ecologically responsible practices.
The award is run by the Foundation for Environmental Education and has chosen 50 beaches in Brazil, with Tombo being the only representative from São Paulo. To get on (and stay on) the list, the beach meets a series of environmental criteria, such as selective collection, accessibility for people with reduced mobility, water quality monitoring and safety on the shore.
As well as keeping Praia do Tombo ecologically responsible, these measures contribute to a more comfortable and accessible experience for bathers. So, how about adding the tour to your next trip to the beaches in Guarujá?
