Jundiaí is preparing for the opening of the traditional Grape Festival, which celebrates the emergence of the Niagara Rosada grape. The free festival returns for its 40th edition on January 23rd and runs for four weekends.
On January 24, 25, 26 and 31 and February 1, 2, 7, 8, 9, 14, 15 and 16, the Comendador Antônio Carbonari Park will welcome thousands of tourists in search of fun and good food. After all, it’s an ideal program for the whole family.
Grape Festival program
According to the organizers, there will be more than 500 attractions throughout the programme, with around 900 local artists performing on five stages. The event will occupy an area of 15,000m2 with 170 exhibitors.
Visitors will be welcomed at the Casa do Colono. The space features actors and sets that recapture the routine and customs of Italian immigrants and the history of the Niagara Rosada grape.
The public can also take part in the traditional “treading of the grapes”. This is another reason to visit the city in January, as the experience only takes place at this time.
On Saturdays and Sundays, at 4:30 p.m., the traditional Grape Parade takes place. It features the Queen and Princesses of the Grape Court, the vintners and traveling bands.
The Grape Festival takes place at the following times:
- Fridays, from 6pm to 10pm;
- Saturdays, from 10am to 10pm;
- Sundays, from 10am to 10pm.
The best of Jundiaí
In addition, until February 16, the public will be able to enjoy the diverse program and get to know Jundiaí’s tourist enterprises all in one place.
After all, the event’s exhibitors are the city’s rural, tourist and gastronomic properties, which present visitors with some of their products:
- cachaça,
- wine,
- juices,
- sweets,
- fruits,
- delicacies,
- dishes from the gastronomic routes, such as fried chicken with polenta and coxinha de queijo, the city’s intangible heritage.
Finally, the Wine Expo is also back. In its 11th edition, visitors have the chance to taste the best products from the region.
