São Paulo’s bakeries are one of its greatest gastronomic institutions. We know this well, so much so that we have already prepared a list more than once with some of the best bakeries in the city. But since 2021, this title is official. After all, it was that year that the Padocaria debuted.
From the same creators as the traditional Comida Di Buteco, the award that is the face of São Paulo has won over the people of São Paulo. Since then, Cepam, on the east side, and Ceci, on the south side, have been chosen as the best bakeries in São Paulo.
Who will be the new winner of Padocaria 2024?
From September 12 to 29, the Padocaria relies on the direct participation of the public to choose the winning establishments in nine categories – from the best coffee to bread on the griddle.
In this first phase, the public votes via the official website in the following categories:
- Coffee;
- Bun;
- Naturally Fermented Bread;
- Sliced Bread;
- Bakery Pizza;
- Canned Meat Service;
- Dream;
- Happy Hour;
- Best Bakery in São Paulo.
Voting is spontaneous and the public is free to choose any bakery of their choice – as long as it is within the city limits of São Paulo. And it is allowed to nominate a different bakery for each category.
In Phase 2, the aim is to choose the best bakeries in each region of the city, selected from the five most voted in Phase 1 in each region of São Paulo (Center, North, South, East and West). In this phase, in addition to the public, a panel of judges also takes part in the election, which takes place between October 11 and 27.
Finally, on November 7, trophies will be awarded to the winners in all categories: the best bakeries in each region (popular vote and jury) and also the grand prize for ‘The Best Bakery in São Paulo’.

In 2024, three-time champions will be honored
In its 4th edition, the contest inaugurates the nomination of ‘Hors Concours’ bakeries, i.e. places that have been three-time champions in the same category.
According to organizer Eduardo Maya, this is a way of honoring and recognizing the great excellence of these great champions, while at the same time making room for new houses. But they can compete in other categories, and will be able to compete for the award again the following year.
